Abstract
Penelitian ini mengkaji fungsi tekstual dari penanda wacana (discourse markers/DMs) dan mengeksplorasi perbedaan penggunaannya berdasarkan gender dalam percakapan podcast nyata. Sumber data berasal dari penanda wacana yang terdapat dalam ujaran podcast YouTube Call Her Daddy berjudul “Ed Sheeran: You Either Love Me or Hate Me,” yang menampilkan Alex Cooper sebagai pembawa acara dan Ed Sheeran sebagai tamu. Penelitian ini menggunakan kerangka teori dari Brinton (1996) untuk mengkategorikan fungsi tekstual DMs dan menerapkan Teori Perbedaan dari Deborah Tannen (1990) untuk menelaah gaya komunikasi berdasarkan gender. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, studi ini mengidentifikasi total 786 penanda wacana: 591 diproduksi oleh pembicara laki-laki dan 195 oleh pembicara perempuan. Kategori fungsi tekstual yang paling dominan adalah fillers (pengisi), diikuti oleh penanda informasi dan penanda urutan/relevansi. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa Ed Sheeran, meskipun laki-laki, sering menggunakan fillers dan penanda perbaikan yang umumnya dikaitkan dengan komunikasi gaya rapport. Sementara itu, Alex Cooper, meski menggunakan DMs lebih sedikit, banyak menggunakan penanda pergantian topik dan giliran bicara, sesuai dengan perannya sebagai pembawa acara. Pola ini mendukung teori Tannen bahwa pembicara laki-laki cenderung menekankan informasi dan struktur logis (report talk), sementara pembicara perempuan lebih fokus pada kelancaran percakapan dan hubungan interpersonal (rapport talk). Studi ini menyoroti bahwa penanda wacana tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai alat linguistik, tetapi juga mencerminkan identitas gender, peran dalam percakapan, dan tujuan interaksional dalam wacana media digital.
