Abstract

The construction sector plays a crucial role in development, particularly in improving quality of life and socio-economic conditions through infrastructure such as roads, bridges, healthcare facilities, and schools. In Indonesia, infrastructure development is a national priority that requires optimal resource utilization. However, construction projects often face challenges, one of which is material distribution delays that affect overall project performance. This study examines the impact of material distribution delays on cost, profit, and project completion time in the Preservation Work of Raja Alam Road Area, Teluk Bayur District, Berau Regency. Data were collected through field observations, interviews, and project documents such as the Bill of Quantity (BOQ) and material distribution records. The analysis was conducted both qualitatively and quantitatively, focusing on changes in effective working hours and their relation to material needs, project costs, and duration. The results show that material distribution delays reduce effective working hours from 7 to 6, 5, and 4 hours, which increases material requirements and project costs. For example, the cost of drainage excavation rose from IDR 5.53 million (at 6 working hours) to IDR 7.64 million (at 4 working hours). Delays also decreased project profit; from a 5% profit target, potential net profit dropped by 2.49% or IDR 15.49 million. The decline in daily productivity due to delays also caused project completion to fall behind schedule. These findings highlight the critical importance of timely material distribution in maintaining project efficiency and financial stability.
