Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of non-vocal verbal communication in improving the performance of human resources (HR) in cooperatives. In this context, non-vocal verbal communication refers to messages delivered through written media such as emails, reports, memos, systems and other documents without involving voice. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach to the Setia Budi Wanita Malang. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis. The results of the study show that the effective use of non-vocal verbal communication can improve the performance of cooperative human resources in various ways. First, clear and structured communication helps reduce misunderstandings and improve work efficiency. Second, the use of formal and consistent written communication creates documentation that can be used as a reference for managerial decisions. Third, the integration between verbal and non-verbal communication strengthens the delivery of messages and supports team collaboration. In addition, this study found that the success of communication is also influenced by organizational culture and the ability and understanding of coping by cooperative members. Thus, this study concludes that non-vocal verbal communication plays and has an important role in improving human resource performance in cooperatives. Recommendations were given for the development of written communication skills and the improvement of information technology infrastructure in cooperatives. This finding is expected to contribute to the cooperative management strategy in optimizing the performance of its members through more effective communication.
