Abstract

Academic dishonesty behavior is one form of ethical violation in the world of education that is increasingly common among students. This study aims to determine the effect of achievement pressure on academic dishonesty, as well as the role of religiosity as a moderating variable in this relationship. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The subjects in this study were 350 active students domiciled in Surabaya. The results of the study showed that there was a positive and significant effect between achievement pressure on academic dishonesty behavior (β = 0.74697; p < 0.001). Meanwhile, religiosity had a negative and significant effect on academic dishonesty (β = -0.18762; p < 0.001), which means that the higher the religiosity, the lower the tendency to commit academic fraud. However, the results of the interaction analysis showed that religiosity did not moderate the relationship between achievement pressure and academic dishonesty (β = -0.000159; p = 0.608).
