Abstract

PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company that produces pipes and fittings for various piping system needs. However, the arrangement of finished goods in the warehouse is still inefficient, as indicated by the absence of classification based on size, product turnover rate, and the lack of an implemented location labeling system. This study aims to redesign the warehouse layout using the class-based storage method. For Excellon products, Class A consists of 11 types of pipes contributing 69.47%, Class B includes 9 types contributing 20.00%, and Class C consists of 8 types contributing 10.53%. Meanwhile, for Supramas products, Class A includes 10 types of pipes contributing 68.49%, Class B consists of 7 types contributing 20.55%, and Class C consists of 10 types contributing 10.96%. Products with diameters ranging from 5/8” to 4” are proposed to be stored on racks, while products with diameters greater than 4” are placed on the floor. This proposal was simulated using FlexSim software and showed a maximum increase in warehouse picking efficiency of 67.5%.
