Abstract

The phenomenon of K-pop idolization is increasingly prevalent in Indonesia, but the idolization shown by fans is considered too excessive. Excessive idolization is called Celebrity worship, usually Celebrity worship occurs in women in their teens. However, some studies have found that Celebrity worship still occurs in early adulthood. One of the factors that influence Celebrity worship is loneliness due to the surrounding environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between loneliness and Celebrity worship in adult female K-pop fans. This study involved 100 adult female K- pop fans. The sampling technique used accidental sampling. The scale used in this study is a 25-item loneliness scale and a 20-item Celebrity worship scale. The data analysis used in this study used the Product Moment correlation test with the results obtained showing the R Square value of -0.293 with a significance of p=0.003 (p<0.05). The results of this study indicate that the hypothesis is rejected and there is a significant negative relationship between loneliness and Celebrity worship in adult female K-pop fans.
