Abstract

This study aims to determine the basic sector as a leading sector in Sidoarjo Regency. This study uses secondary data in the form of time series data from the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Sidoarjo Regency and East Java Province in 2014-2023. The analytical tools used in this study are: 1). Location Quotient analysis is used to identify the basic sector in Sidoarjo Regency. 2). Shift Share analysis is used to determine changes and shifts in the economic structure of Sidoarjo Regency. The results of the study show that from the calculation of the LQ> 1 analysis, the basic or leading sector in Sidoarjo Regency is the Electricity and Gas Procurement sector, which is 2.86, then the Transportation and Warehousing sector has an average LQ value of 2.43 and continued with the Manufacturing Industry sector has an average LQ value of 1.71. The results of the Shift Share analysis in the calculation of Regional Share show that the contribution of the economic sector in East Java Province affects economic growth in Sidoarjo Regency. The results of the Proportional Shift calculation show that 10 sectors in Sidoarjo Regency have faster growth compared to the growth of the same sector at the East Java Province level. The results of the Differential Shift calculation show that 3 sectors have good competitive advantages and faster growth rates compared to the same sector in East Java Province. The results of the analysis show that the economic sector that has rapid growth and has a competitive advantage with rapid growth so that it has the potential to increase competitiveness is the processing industry sector. Therefore, the Processing Industry sector is the main priority in supporting the economic development of Sidoarjo Regency in the future.
