Abstract

Mothers who have children with special needs are certainly faced with more complicated parenting challenges than mothers with normal children, so it is easy to trigger parenting stress. Resilience and support can affect parenting stress, high resilience and social support obtained by mothers can reduce the level of parenting stress experienced. This study aims to determine the relationship between resilience and social support with parenting stress in mothers who have children with special needs at Lentera Fajar Indonesia school in Sidoarjo, totaling 53 people. This research method uses a quantitative approach and data collection using a parenting stress scale questionnaire, resilience scale and social support scale. Data analysis using multiple regression analysis techniques with the help of the IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) program version 24 for Windows. The results of the study obtained a value of F = 33.11 with a significance of 0.000 (p <0.05) which means there is a negative relationship between resilience and social support with parenting stress. The effective contribution of resilience and social support to parenting stress amounted to 78.9% with details of the contribution of the resilience variable of 21.92% and the social support variable of 56.98%, while the rest was influenced by other variables.
