Abstract

Water is the main need for all living things, especially humans, to support the sustainability of life. Tamangil Nuhuten Village, located in South Kei Besar District, Southeast Maluku Regency, faces significant challenges in meeting the clean water needs of its community. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the clean water distribution scheme through technical and economic approaches. This research used a field survey method to obtain primary data on the condition of water resources in the village, including spring discharge data, which was taken by direct measurement at the Baluruk spring location. Furthermore, to analyse and design the water distribution system, EPANET 2.2 software was used to simulate the flow of water through the distribution pipe network, taking into account topographic conditions and the flow capacity required to meet community needs. Economic analysis was conducted by calculating the cost of building water distribution infrastructure, this cost model also considers the duration of the work. Based on the results of the analysis, the hilly topography of the village is the main obstacle in the distribution of clean water. To overcome this, a gravity�based distribution system is recommended. Water sourced from Baluruk spring will be collected first using broncaptering, then channelled through transmission pipes, distribution pipes, and house connections (SR). EPANET 2.2 simulations show that the system can effectively fulfil the community's water needs. The total cost required to build this distribution network is estimated at Rp8,202,383,000.00 with a duration of six months. This study is expected to serve as a guideline for the government and related parties in designing a water distribution system that is efficient, sustainable, and in accordance with the needs of the Tamangil Nuhuten Village community
