Abstract

This study examines Ms. Hery's motivations for creating viral content on TikTok on her @herrydepari11 account in Surabaya, given the platform's increasing influence on the behavior and social interactions of its users, especially among the younger generation. Focusing on the influence of viral content in increasing audience engagement, this study explains how Mba Hery's drive for high engagement triggers the creation of resonant content and positively influences communication on social media. This study aims to deeply understand the motivations behind and the impact of content that attracts attention and positive responses from her followers. The research method used in this study is phenomenology with a qualitative approach. Primary data sources in this study only refer to the owner of the @herrydepari11 account, namely mbak hery, the data collection technique uses observation, interviews and documentation. The analysis technique used in this research is to use the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach. While the validity of the data used only uses source triangulation. The results of this study based on Alfred Schutz's Phenomenology theory on @herrydepari11's motivation in TikTok content creation, found an integration of three stages: knowledge, motive, and action. First, @herrydepari11 gathers knowledge through in-depth research on TikTok trends and algorithms as well as production techniques, which helps base her creative decisions. Second, his motives include the economic drive of monetization and a personal desire to interact and add value to his followers, showing a combination of financial and personal goals. Third, he translates this knowledge and motives into action through content creation, social interaction, and strategies based on data analysis, achieving his social and economic goals on the platform. To maximize the potential of content and increase engagement on TikTok, it is recommended that @herrydepari11 continue to update his knowledge of current trends, incorporate follower feedback in the creative process, and utilize analytics for a more targeted and effective content strategy.
