Abstract

The growth in population and private vehicles in Surabaya has caused a significant increase intraffic congestion. To overcome this problem, the Surabaya City government implemented the SuroboyoBus public transportation policy as an alternative solution. This research aims to evaluate the impact ofthis policy in reducing traffic jams in the city of Surabaya. The research methods used include secondarydata analysis from related agencies, Suroboyo Bus user satisfaction surveys,aswellasfieldobservationsatseveralmaincongestionpoints.Theresearch results show that the implementation of Suroboyo Bus contributed toreducing the volume of private vehicles by12% on main route sandin creasing public interest inpublic transportation.However,the effective ness ofthis policy still faces challenges,especially intermsofintegrationoftransportationmodesand service areacoverage.Inconclusion,theSuroboyoBuspolicyhasgreatpotentialto reducecongestionifsupportedbyinfrastructuredevelopmentandincreasingpublic aware ness ofthe use of public transportation.
