Abstract

Simple housing is an essential indicator for assessing a country's standard of living, particularly in developing regions facing the challenges of rapid urbanization and socio-economic disparities. Bangkalan Regency, East Java, Madura Island, is one such area experiencing infrastructure limitations and increasing housing demand. This study combines the Neighborhood Visibility Analysis and Economic and Social Visibility Analysis approaches to evaluate the development of simple housing in the region, focusing on economic, social, and environmental aspects. This research is a survey and quantitative descriptive study aimed at drawing conclusions regarding feasible simple housing construction in Bangkalan Regency. To achieve this objective, a survey method was employed by distributing questionnaires to collect data The findings identify several key indicators, including disaster resilience, land use efficiency, energy efficiency, adequate living space, access to public spaces, and effective waste management as determinants of environmental visibility. Additionally, there are nine economic and social indicators, including affordability, availability, and accessibility. The study reveals that the visibility price for simple housing in Bangkalan Regency is 200 million rupiah, with 24.1% of respondents selecting this price as the most suitable for their needs.
