Abstract

Construction projects, particularly the construction of high-rise buildings or large-scale structures such as campus lecture halls, are among the construction sectors with significant risks related to workplace accidents and occupational health. This is primarily due to workers' negligence and the low awareness among human resources regarding the importance of implementing proper Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Frequently, the implementation of OHS in construction projects is perceived merely as a project cost burden rather than an investment to prevent workplace accidents. This study aims to identify the causes of workplace accidents and rank risk factors in the construction of the CWI-02 building project at ITS Surabaya. The research employs risk analysis using the Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS) method. RBS calculations are based on the probability and impact of each critical risk category item, enabling more effective risk mitigation. Based on the analysis, the study identifies the top three "High" risk factors contributing to workplace accidents in the CWI-02 building project at ITS Surabaya: worker indiscipline (score: 0.690), refusal to use personal protective equipment (score: 0.627), and the absence of clear and adequate OHS implementation standards (score: 0.577).
