Abstract

A STP is a facility specifically designed to receive and treat fecal sludge originating from local sewage treatment systems. While the STP is effective in managing sewage, there are concerns about its impact on the surrounding shallow groundwater quality, especially regarding the use of chemicals and potential pollution from a sub-optimal management system. Based on the initial survey conducted, 4 active wells were found in Kelurahan Keputih in the IPLT area. There are 2 different well conditions, namely good and bad well conditions. Wells that have good conditions are characterized by well water that is not cloudy, not salty and does not smell. While wells with poor conditions can be characterized by turbid, salty and smelly well water. This well is still used for daily needs by residents of Keputih Village. This study aims to analyze the influence of the STP on shallow groundwater quality, specifically by considering how the distance of the STP affects water quality. It also aims to map the distribution of groundwater quality in Kelurahan Keputih. The methods used included laboratory testing that was compared with quality standards based on Permenkes No. 32 of 2017 on sanitary hygiene requirements. Simple linear regression analysis with t-test as hypothesis was used to analyze the effect of well distance on water quality, and mapping using ArcGIS version 10.8. The analysis showed that some parameters, such as TDS, manganese, fluoride, nitrate, and total coliform, were more than the predetermined quality standards. In addition, based on the parameters tested, the distance between the wells and the STP did not show a significant effect on shallow groundwater quality.
