Abstract

UD Maju Jaya, a woodworking company established in 2012 in Surabaya, produces wooden frames, door leaves, windows, and aluminum in various models. The company often faces problems with shortages of primary raw materials, especially camphor wood, due to suboptimal order planning, causing delays in production, delivery, and decreased customer satisfaction. Other impacts include reduced orders, decreased revenue, and disrupted operations, even six employees had to temporarily stop working due to shortages of raw materials. To overcome this problem, the company implemented Material Requirements Planning (MRP) supported by demand forecasting using the Exponential Smoothing method (alpha 0.2) which is considered the most accurate because the demand pattern is stable. Through this planning, raw material requirements can be better predicted, including 1052 lonjor beams for window frames, 450 lonjor for door frames, 127 lonjor for window leaves, and 507 lonjor for door leaves per month. The Lot For Lot (LFL) strategy with a 5-day lead time is implemented to ensure that raw materials are always available on time, minimize waste, and maintain efficiency. The company's production from November 2024 to February 2025 shows stability, with a monthly volume of 454 units of window frames, 450 units of door frames, 76 units of window leaves, and 289 units of door leaves. With an integrated MRP approach, the buffer stock is sufficient to anticipate small fluctuations in demand, so that production runs smoothly without significant excess or shortage. This step not only maintains customer satisfaction, but also ensures business sustainability through operational efficiency, inventory control, and faster response to market demand, allowing UD Maju Jaya to remain competitive in the industry.
