Abstract

Academic resilience is an individual's ability to face various challenges in the world of education. Students who have high academic resilience are able to survive in difficult situations, adapt to challenging circumstances, and overcome the academic pressure they face. This research aims to determine the relationship between emotional regulation and academic self-efficacy with the academic resilience of first year overseas students in the city of Surabaya. The research was conducted on 250 participants who were overseas students outside Surabaya by taking samples using the Accidental Sampling technique. The research instruments include an academic resilience scale, an emotional regulation scale using the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) and an academic self-efficacy scale prepared by researchers. The results of the analysis show that emotional regulation has a significant influence on academic resilience, which indicates that good emotional regulation increases the level of resilience in students. Apart from that, academic self-efficacy has also been proven to have a significant influence on academic resilience, so that high academic self-efficacy encourages students' ability to rise above challenges.
