Abstract

Nomophobia is an abbreviation for 'no mobile phone phobia,' which refers to an individual's anxiety and dependence when separated from their smartphone, making it impossible to access the features of the device. This study aims to investigate the relationship between self-control, smartphone usage intensity, and nomophobia in high school students. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach. The respondents in this study are students from SMAN 1 Manyar Gresik, who filled out the nomophobia scale, self-control scale, and smartphone usage intensity scale. Based on the results, the correlation was R=0.324; F=8.996 with a significance level of 0.000 (P<0.05). This means that, simultaneously, self-control and smartphone usage intensity can be positive predictors for nomophobia, and the hypothesis testing is accepted. In other words, the higher the scores of self-control and smartphone usage intensity, the higher the level of nomophobia, and vice versa.
