Abstract

Saat ini penggunaan mesin pendingin banyak dimanfaatkan untuk aktifitas sehari hari bahkan menjadi alat bantu bisnis dalam penyimpanan makanan. Lemari es merupakan alat pemindah panas dengan media aliran fluida pendingin yang disebut refrigerant tanpa mengilangkan energinya. Refrigerant yang digunakan pada saat ini dituntut untuk ramah lingkungan tanpa menghilangkan fungsi utama dari refrigeran tersebut. Siklus pendingin dimulai dari refrigerant memasuki kompresor untuk dikompresi dan keluar untuk selanjutnya masuk ke kondensor untuk melepas panas dan berubah bentuk menjadi fasa cair. Lalu diekspansi dengan pipa kapiler dan masuk ke evaporator untuk menyerap panas di ruangan sekitar dan keluar evaporator menjadi fasa gas. Penelitian ini membahas tentang evaluasi nilai koefisien performa siklus pendingin untuk memperoleh efisiensi siklus mesin lemari es. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu merancang mesin pendingin untuk dilakukan pengujian dengan variabel panjang pipa kapiler yaitu 50 cm, 100 cm, dan 150 cm, serta jenis refrigerant yang digunakan adalah R-134a, R-290, dan R-600a. Pengambilan data pada pengujian mesin pendingin adalah tekanan dan suhu pada proses evaporasi, kompresi, kondensasi dan ekspansi. Setelah itu ditentukan entalpi pada setiap titik dengan nilai tekanannya. Kemudian dihitung nilai koefisien performa aktual, koefisien performa ideal, dan efisiensi siklus mesin pendingin. Didapat efisiensi siklus tertinggi pada refrigerant R-600a dengan panjang pipa kapiler 50 cm dengan nilai 71,55%. Nilai efisiensi siklus tertinggi dihasilkan oleh refrigerant R-600a, lalu R 134a dan yang terendah pada R-290, seiring bertambahnya panjang pipa kapiler akan menurunkan nilai efisiensi siklus.
