Abstract

In the Tensile machine to measure a change in the length of the test object during tension, many time extensometer tests are carried out and various methods and contact tools, such as strain gauges are used, but these methods have limitations and low accuracy which cause unexpected results and are different from the theoretical value of stress. For that, in order to overcome the problem of measurement in this paper, testing is carried out by slightly increasing the strain measurement, using a non-contract method using image processing techniques in the MATLAB environment. After capturing the tensile test movement and recording images with high quality and using image processing, several patterns in the first image will be taken and processed using a special algorithm method called Digital Image Correlation (DIC) detecting the pattern until the last image captured then we can use the displacement algorithm and calculate the change in specimen length and after that we can also have strain using the values that have been obtained. The engineering stress and strain of the tensile testing machine developed by calculating using the Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method are more precise and accurate compared to standard machine data.
