Abstract

This research aims to find out how legal protection is for vehicle number plate service entrepreneurs who are accused of being in a vehicle theft ring. This research uses normative legal research methods. The approach used in this research is a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The results of this research are that the actions of the perpetrators of making roadside number plate services are categorized as criminal acts under articles 55 and 56 of the Criminal Code because they are considered to have participated in carrying out (medepleger) the crime of theft. But the entrepreneur who made the vehicle number plates did not know that the vehicle was the result of theft. This is of course still contrary to the sense of justice that exists in society. Because the principle of legal fiction is still considered by society to be unfair. The government and law enforcers must immediately publish statutory regulations and then there must be outreach or seminars from law enforcers to the public. So that people know and understand what is prohibited and what is permitted. Therefore, legal protection is needed for vehicle number plate service entrepreneurs whose subordinates do not know anything if the vehicle number plate they are working on is a stolen vehicle.
