Abstract

The cigarette industry is facing challenges related to the shift in consumption to e-cigarettes caused by an increase in excise rates of 10%, which has an impact on decreasing Tobacco Products Excise (CHT) revenues which can be detrimental to the country. This deserves attention, because the manufacturing industry plays an important role in the country's economy. In connection with the challenges faced, the cigarette industry continues to strive to balance its role as a contributor to the national economy and attention to public health. What needs to be done is to direct consumers towards lighter cigarette tastes. However, in making these efforts, publicly traded cigarette companies experience many losses in their sales system, including reduced sales costs, administrative costs, overhead costs, interest costs, and tax payments. The aim of this research is to prove and analyze the accuracy of the Altman z-score, springate s-score and zmijewski x-score prediction models for financial distress in cigarette sub-sector manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach method. The data used in this research is secondary data, namely cigarette company financial report data for 2019-2022. The population in this study used a sampling technique, namely saturated samples and used the Altman Z-Score, Springate and Zmijewski prediction models as well as Level of Accuracy and Type Error II. The research results show that the Altman Z-Score and Springate S-Score methods do not have an accurate level of accuracy in analyzing and predicting financial distress in cigarette sub-sector manufacturing companies listed on the IDX. Meanwhile, the value of the accuracy rate of the Zmijewski.
