Abstract

In conveying information regarding political decision-making to the community of Sumber Pinang Village, Mlandingan Subdistrict, Situbondo Regency, an intermediary is needed, specifically someone trusted by the village community. This trusted individual is an opinion leader in Sumber Pinang Village. The village has three figures trusted as opinion leaders by the community: the Village Head, the Hamlet Head, and the Religious Leader. In the political decision-making process in Sumber Pinang Village, the role of the opinion leader is played by the religious leader. The mass media leverages the influence of opinion leaders to disseminate information about political decisions. Therefore, the researcher is interested in describing the role of opinion leaders in political decision-making within the community of Sumber Pinang Village, Mlandingan Subdistrict, Situbondo Regency. To support this research, the researcher employs a descriptive study using phenomenological methods. The data collection techniques used include observation, interviews, and documentation, all linked to the two-step flow theory. The results of this study indicate that the role of opinion leaders in political decision�making within the community of Sumber Pinang Village, Mlandingan Subdistrict, Situbondo Regency, involves urging the community to exercise their voting rights so that the elected political members can favor the community in their policies. Although this information is widely disseminated by mass media, for matters not yet understood by the community, they seek clarification from the opinion leaders.
