Abstract

In various modern countries today, exports are one of the main motors of economic growth and development (Bustami & Hidayat, 2013). Indonesia, as an archipelagic country with abundant natural resources, especially in the plantation sector, plays an important role in generating foreign exchange through commodity exports. This research aims to analyze the influence of various factors on Indonesian coffee exports to Malaysia from 2000 to 2022. The variables studied include Malaysian GDP, world coffee prices, domestic coffee prices, and the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar. The method used is the Error Correction Model (ECM), using secondary data from various sources such as the Central Statistics Agency, World Bank, International Coffee Organization, Directorate General of Plantations, and Bank Indonesia. The results of the analysis show that Malaysia's GDP does not have a significant effect in either the short or long term on Indonesian coffee exports to Malaysia. Likewise, world coffee prices and the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar also do not have a significant influence. However, domestic coffee prices have a significant positive influence in the short and long term on Indonesian coffee exports to Malaysia. Based on the research results, it was concluded that efforts to improve the quality and quality of Indonesian coffee can increase competitiveness in the international market. Research recommendations include the need to improve the quality of coffee products, use more samples in future research, and explore other research methods to deepen understanding of the factors influencing coffee exports. It is hoped that these findings can become a basis for the government and policy makers to take more effective steps in improving Indonesia's position as one of the world's main coffee exporters.
