Abstract

The development of technology and the increasingly modern internet makes it possible for many people to commit crimes online, one of which is online fraud. Cybercrime is a cybercrime that utilizes computer media and internet networks which is a challenge in this day and age. In the film "Don't Buy The Seller" which is a thriller genre directed by Park Hee Gon in 2023, it tells the story of a woman who experiences a complicated online used goods fraud which leads to cyber crime. Based on this background, there are two problem formulations that can be examined in this research, namely, what is the storyline of the film "Don't Buy The Seller" according to Tzvetan Todorov's analysis?, and What is the representation of Cybercrime in the film "Don't Buy The Seller?" . This research uses qualitative research using the Tzvetan Todorov model of narrative analysis method by dividing the plot into 3 parts, namely the initial plot, middle plot and final plot. In the results of this research, researchers analyzed that there were cybercrime acts in the form of hacking and cyber stalking in the storyline of the film "Don't Buy The Seller". After the researcher divides it into three plots, the initial plot of the story starts from scene 1 to scene 4, where the initial plot contains cyber actions against Soo Hyun in the form of online fraud, hacking and identity theft. In the middle plot, there are scenes 5 to 11 which explain the various kinds of disturbances and conflicts experienced by Soo Hyun, such as extortion and the dissemination of information (Doxing) by fraudsters to online sales sites. Meanwhile, in the final plot of the story, in scenes 12 to 13, a new balance occurs, showing Soo Hyun living her new life as head of the interior team after going through various kinds of disturbances and terror from fraudsters.
