Abstract

This research aims to analyze public perceptions of the integrity of politicians in the context of the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) corruption scandal. The BTS corruption scandal is one of the cases that highlights corrupt practices in the technology and communications sector, involving a number of politicians and government officials. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving in-depth interviews with various levels of society as well as media analysis regarding the scandal. The research results show that the BTS corruption scandal significantly influenced public perceptions of the integrity of politicians. The majority of respondents considered that the politicians involved in the scandal had betrayed the public's trust and demonstrated a lack of accountability and transparency in carrying out their duties. Apart from that, these findings also indicate that this scandal strengthens the public's negative view of politicians in general, reinforcing the opinion that corruption is still a systemic problem in the world of Indonesian politics. This research emphasizes the importance of efforts to eradicate corruption and increase transparency and accountability in government to restore public trust in politicians. Recommendations put forward include the need for reform in the monitoring and law enforcement system, as well as more intensive anti-corruption education for politicians and the wider community.
