Abstract

Being gay in public life in Indonesia is not an ordinary thing nowadays. However, negative views are often attached to gay people. Because from the religious aspect, the norms and values that apply in Indonesia are considered wrong and constitute deviant behavior. The presence of gay people in Indonesia has not been fully accepted by society, especially when linked to the religion and customs of eastern society. The presence of gay people, who are a minority in a heterosexual society, is considered different and unusual. In this study, researchers will discuss how gay people can come out or open themselves to society about their sexual orientation. This research also uses social penetration theory which consists of the orientation stage, exploratory affective exchange stage, affective exchange stage, stable exchange stage and also uses phenomenological studies which aim to reveal more deeply about how community kentir groups reveal themselves to the community that they like each other. kind and they are not a dangerous gay group. On the other hand, as social creatures, like other humans who need to socialize, gay people also need friends and companions who of course are not only gay people but also other people. In order to socialize widely, gay people need to open themselves up to be able to mix with all levels of society. The aim of this research is to reveal how the Kentir community group is coming out to the public that they are same-sex lovers and are not a dangerous gay group so that there is no bad view from society regarding the Kentir gay community group.
