Abstract
Baja JIS SUP 9 merupakan bahan baku dalam pembuatan pegas daun, baja pegas merupakan salah satu komponen otomotif mesin yang bahan dasarnya adalah baja karbon memiliki kandungan karbon 0,52% - 0,60% sehingga termasuk kedalam golongan baja karbon menengah, oleh karena itu diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut terhadap korosi baja JIS SUP 9, penelitian mengetahui nilai kekerasan, perubahan struktur mikro dan laju korosi yang ditimbulkan sebelum dan setelah perlakuan panas hardening dengan melakukan variasi temperature 860°C, 880°C, 900°C ditahan 15 menit dan didinginkan dengan variasi media pendingin air pdam, air garam, dan Oli, selanjutnya material akan di uji kekerasan, struktur mikro dan korosi dengan media air hujan, setelah mendapatkan hasil kemudian dihitung laju korosi (mpy) dengan menggunakan metode kehilangan berat (weigt loss). Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan nilai kekerasan pada baja JIS SUP 9 tertinggi pada spesimen dengan dengan variasi temperatur perlakuan panas 900°C dengan media pendingin ari garam dengan nlai 74,9 HRC, nilai kekerasan terendah terdapat pada spesimen dengan tanpa perlakuan dengan nilai 59,4 HRC, hasil uji struktur mikro pada specimen tanpa perlakuan panas terdapat struktur fasa ferit 63% dan perlit 37% sedangkan kekerasan tertinggi terbentuk fasa martensit 72% dan austenit sisa 28%, di dapatkan laju korosi tertinggi pada spesimen variasi tempratur perlakuan panas 880°C dengan media pendingin air dan temperatur 900°C dengan media pendingin oli dengan nilai laju korosi sama besar 0,0968 mm/y dan laju korosi terendah pada variasi temperatur perlakuan panas 880°C dengan media pendingin air sebesar 0,0792 mm/y.
