Abstract
In Indonesia, witchcraft is generally believed to be one of the acts that can cause harm to someone through the occult or magic. The harm caused by witchcraft can be seen clearly and clearly against the victim of witchcraft, but it is very difficult to explain in medical health. In the case of witchcraft, this usually happens to a victim of witchcraft, usually a sore appears due to the presence of foreign objects contained in the victim's body witchcraft but can not be explained medically about the origin of the object. The so-called foreign bodies are in the form of nails, iron, needles and other objects. There are even more extreme ones that make the victim suffer prolonged physically and mentally, can also cause the victim to die. This thesis aims to determine and explain the urgency of the study of criminalization of witchcraft. This study is a normative legal research using the approach of legislation (statute approach), concept approach (conceptual approach). While the legal materials used are primary, secondary and tertiary legal materials. The results of this study indicate that the urgency of the law in addressing witchcraft is that if the shaman violates a concrete law, in which case the shaman commits false practices with a specific intention, there are those who ask for money guarantees and others that can benefit their own person such as committing fraud, embezzlement there are also shamans who in practice abuse under the guise of traditional medicine, in this case according to their actions that have violated the rule of law, the actions of the Shaman will be subject to articles in the old Criminal Code, Article 378 of the criminal code on fraud, Article 372 of the criminal code on embezzlement, article 289 of the criminal code on harassment
