Abstract

From the many variations of genres in cinema, there are romantic film genres, romantic genre films today not only have the main story, namely female and male actors who have a love story, but there is a new genre of romantic films that has the main plot, namely a homosexual love story between men and men or what is called the Boys Love genre. In today's era, it is very easy to access homosexual content in the form of video footage, series or movies. Many movie streaming media such as Disney+Hotstar, Netflix, weTV, Apple TV, Iqiyi and so on provide Boys Love genre series. So that these media have a role in spreading homosexual content. However, in the theory of Uses and Gratifications, the media does not have the power to influence the audience. So the essence of this theory is that the audience uses mass media based on a motive. This study aims to determine the relationship, motivation and satisfaction level of watching homosexual content in the Boys Love genre series in female students at the University of 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya. This study uses a quantitative method approach, with the type of associative explanatory research. The population in this study is students and students of the University of 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya where the data collection technique uses a questionnaire using a google form of 100 respondents. The data analysis techniques used are normality test, linearity test, T�test, and coefficient correlation test. The results of this study are based on a hypothesis test that has a sig value of 0.000<0.005 that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted by its hippothesis, which can be concluded that there is a relationship between Audience Motivation and the Level of Satisfaction Watching Homosexual Content in the Boys Love Genre Series in Female Students at the University of 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya.
