Abstract

This research discusses the influence of using the Mobile Legends game on adolescent communication behavior in Sumber Rejo Village, Pakal District, Surabaya City. Online games themselves are video games that are connected to the internet network, but online game users tend to spend their time playing which can lead to the risk of addiction. Activities from excessive use of online games can distance a person from daily activities and interactions with the surrounding environment. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of using mobile legends games on interpersonal communication among teenagers in Sumber Rejo Village. The results of this research show the influence of using mobile legends games on interpersonal communication. The method used in this research is a quantitative method, with data collection using a survey method, namely by using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The data collected was obtained from male teenagers in the 13-18 year age group who played Mobile Legends, using the Slovin formula calculation, the number obtained was 92 samples to become respondents. The data was analyzed using validity and reliability tests, then using simple linear regression analysis using SPSS 25. This is shown from the results of the simple linear regression test that the significant value is 0.000 < 0.05 so it can be concluded that variable X has an effect on variable Y. Then a coefficient test was carried out The results obtained for the Adjusted R Square determination were 0.422, which means that the contribution of the influence of the independent variable to the dependent variable was 42.2%.
