Abstract
Technological developments and social media, churches need to adapt ways of communicating to reach people more effectively. The Instagram account @katedralsurabaya has become an important platform for disseminating information about church activities, religious moments and inspirational messages. This research uses media richness theory. The aim of this research is to analyze the communication strategies used by the Instagram account @katedralsurabaya in conveying information to Catholics. The research method used in this research is a descriptive research method to explain and explain the data obtained from the data collection process during research. This research emphasizes observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as an effort to obtain research data. The data collection technique is Source Tringulation. The results of this research can be concluded that the Instagram account @katedralsurabaya implements an effective communication strategy, this can be seen from the suitability of the immediacy of information utilizing various features of stories, likes, views and number of followers, diversity of signals by utilizing through posting photos, videos and collaborations. with other accounts, language variations using clear and informative Indonesian, and personal sources involving people directly as well as content created by attracting supporting factors such as internal support for the management team and existing inhibiting factors that can be overcome with the steps taken strategic in the process of managing the @katedralsurabaya Instagram account, and the communication strategy model implemented by the church. The Instagram account @katedralsurabaya as an information medium has been running effectively and efficiently. This is able to convey information that is relevant and interesting to the congregation, as well as supporting better communication between the church and the Catholic community.
