Abstract

Alternative materials found in current developments are usually called Composite Materials. Composite material is a new material consisting of two or more separate materials which have been combined into one structural unit which has different mechanical properties and characteristics from the original material. Research on Polypropylene Composite Material reinforced with coconut shell powder was carried out by mixing and molding it into a new material. This research examines the impact of stirring time and stirring speed on the strength of polypropylene composite materials reinforced with coconut shell powder. The variables are a weight fraction of 10%, variations in particle size of coconut shell powder 200-250 mesh, propylene melting temperature 170°C, stirring time 10 minutes, 20 minutes and 30 minutes, stirring speed 15 rpm, 25 rpm and 35 rpm. From the Tensile, Impact and SEM tests that I will test on several Composite Materials that I print, I can conclude which Composite Material is the best. The results of my research for the best specimens were obtained from a stirring time of 10 minutes and a stirring speed of 35 rpm. The worst specimen had a stirring time of 20 minutes and a stirring speed of 15 rpm. I can conclude that the faster the stirring, the better the results obtained and the longer the stirring process takes, the quality of the polypropylene composite specimen reinforced with coconut shell particles will decrease. Hopefully the results of this research can be used as a reference in the use and development of natural powder composite materials in the industrial world.
