Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of financial literacy, family financial education, financial attitudes, and peers on the financial behavior of undergraduate accounting students in the city of Surabaya. The sample used in this study used a purposive sampling method. Purposive sampling is a data sampling technique based on certain criteria or considerations. The sample size was determined using Roscoe theory, so the number of respondent samples in this study amounted to 130. This study used quantitative data types and primary data sources. Data analysis techniques are carried out using the PLS-SEM method with the help of SmartPLS 3.0 devices. Data analysis techniques with the PLS-SEM method include the outer model test, the inner model test, and the hypothesis test using the path coefficient in bootstrapping. The results showed that financial literacy, financial attitudes, and peers had a positive and significant effect on the financial behavior of undergraduate accounting students in Surabaya City, but family financial education did not affect the financial behavior of accounting undergraduate students in Surabaya City. So that students of the undergraduate accounting program in Surabaya City who have extensive financial literacy, a firm attitude towards finances, and positive peers can increase the value of student financial behavior so that students can manage and make financial decisions wisely and on target so that they can have an impact on the welfare of student life in the future. However, the habits taught by parents cannot influence or control student financial behavior because, for today's generation Z students, all information is obtained easily and quickly through mobile phones. so that students can easily receive marketing information and be encouraged to make transactions that are not needed.
