Abstract
Material selection for machining components requires good mechanical properties, for example fatigue resistance to increase service life. To obtain good fatigue resistance properties are influenced by the heat treatment given to the material. The material used is Al 2075 composite with reinforcement of coal base ash. This study varied the aging temperature of 100° C, 125° C, 150° C and aging time 45 minutes, 60 minutes and 75 minutes on T6 heat treatment on fatigue resistance and microstructure with loading of 45%, 50%, and 55% of yield stress the material. From the tests carried out, it was obtained a broken cycle in each of the given loadings, while there was a small amount of stress on the test material, the cycles were obtained. Conversely, if there is a large amount of stress on the cycle test material obtained, it is probably small. The highest fatigue life in specimens with variations in aging temperature of 150° C and aging time of 45 minutes with 45% loading of yield stress obtained 108600 cycles. While the lowest fatigue life in specimens with variations in aging temperature of 100° C and aging time of 75 minutes with loading of 55% of yield stress obtained 4200 cycles. The shape of the structure due to fatigue testing has the dominant fracture type with the 3d fault type caused by the rotation of low stress concentration with heavy over-loading.
