Abstract
The city of Sorong, which is located in West Papua Province, often experience flood the overflow of the Remu River. This river is the main drain of the drainage system. City development is a major factor that has a big impact on the drainage system in Remu River. The increase number of industrial and residential areas is one of the causes of the loss of water absorption and sedimentation zone in the river. This study aims to analysze the capacity of the existing drain which is able to accommodate the planned flood discharge with a return period of 2 years, 5 years and 10 years. Analysis of the exsisting drain capacity was done by collecting data and measuring the 2 km of Remu River at 5 STAs. The data that used in this study are existing drain data, rainfall data and river flow area map. The data will be processed by hydrological analysis and hydraulic analysis. Hydrological analysis was done to obtain a planned flood discharge with a return period of 2 years, 5 years and 10 years. While the hydraulic analysis is to find out whether the Remu River is able to accommodate the planned flood discharge. The results of this study are the water discharge plan with 2 year return period is 414,750 m/detik, 5 year return period is 483,920 m/detik, and 10 year return period is 515,084 m/detik. From that water discharge data, the next step is analyzing the existing drain capacity to know if the drain is able to accommodate the water discharge plan. The result of the existing drain capacity analysis is STA 400, STA 800, STA 1200, STA 1600 and STA 2000 are unable to accommodate the water discharge plan, so that evaluation of existing drain capacity is needed for all of the STA. The result of the evaluation of existing drain capacity for water discharge plan with 2 year return period of all STA is redesign the cross section with 21,45 m width and 5 m height, 5 year return period of all STA is redesign the cross section with 22 m width and 5,5 m height, and 10 year return period of all STA is redesign the cross section with 22,5 m width and 5,5 m height.
