Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find the meaning of death in Christina Rosetti’s poems: “When I Am Dead, My Dearest”, “Sleeping At Last”, “After Death”, “Dream Land”, and “Rest”. There are some things supporting in concluding the meaning of death. First, situations of nature around the grave. Second, the situations inside the earth where the dead person lay down. Third, what the dead person experiences in her new world. The writer uses qualitative research method. It means that the analysis of the study is based on the theories and data are taken from the poems itselves. The writer collects the data which have relation with the topic and analyze it using the research method. In this study, the writer finds that death is not as horrible as people think. It is full of peace, comfort, and eternal life and all good things that people never find in the world. Death is only a long period sleep, not completely dead. The dead people will be woken up or resurrected in one day. Finally, the writer concludes that death is not to be feared.
