Abstract

Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) in East Java has contributed 54.34% to the total value of Gross Domestic Regional Product (PDRB) of East Java. Various problems experienced by the leather processing industry located in Sidoarjo. These problems include management which includes poor accounting system and procedures, transaction recording is still done manually and do not have profit balance report. The purpose of this research is to know the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by the leather craftsmen in Sidoarjo in the short and long term and to know how the participation of local government and related agencies in developing leather processing industry in these locations. This research is with qualitative research method with number of informant 4 people. The location of the research was conducted in Intako Sidoarjo and the other in the dwelling place of a good leather craftsmen in Sidoarjo. The results showed that the leather processing industry in Sidoarjo are in the ST quadrant. Suggestion is to increase the quantity among supplier with artisans facilitated by local government and related institution. The government needs to make policies and regulations that are aligned to improve the performance of the leather processing craftsmen which in turn will increase GDP (gross domestic product). Provide a well-coordinated industry model and provide a joint venture of office between the government and craftsmen.
