Abstract
Education plays an important role in improving the quality of human resources; however, access to secondary education remains a challenge for students from underprivileged families due to economic limitations and inadequate educational support facilities. The Sekolah Rakyat program initiated by the Indonesian government serves as an effort to expand educational opportunities for disadvantaged communities. Therefore, a boarding school facility is needed not only to provide formal education but also to foster character development, independence, and life skills among students. The design of the Golden Indonesia Senior High School for Underprivileged Students in Malang City aims to create a boarding school environment that supports social welfare, academic learning, and the development of students’ productive skills. The design is based on the Life Skill Habits concept, which views the school as a space for cultivating positive habits through boarding life, project-based learning, social interaction, and real-world work experiences carried out continuously and sustainably. The design outcome consists of three main zones: a residential zone, an academic zone, and a productive zone represented by the Student Creative Market and creative studios, namely Omah Kriya, Omah Busana, Omah Imaji, and Omah Rasa. These elements are integrated through a site arrangement that encourages interaction, character formation, and productive activities among students. The proposed design is expected to provide an educational environment that not only enhances academic achievement but also develops life skills and independence as essential provisions for students’ future lives.
