Abstract

The growth in the number of tourist visits to Indonesia has a significant impact on the tourism sector. To support this, the government has designated a number of priority National Tourism Strategic Areas (KSPN), one of which is Labuan Bajo, located in West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. This area has various tourist destinations, but based on data from the Ministry of Tourism in the period 2016-2019, the needs of tourists for shopping and cultural tourism have not been fully met. Therefore, a design approach is needed that can answer these needs. From the analysis of the potential of West Manggarai Regency, it was found that creative arts, performing arts, and culinary are the three main potentials. In order to develop these potentials, an art market concept was designed that could become a culturalbased tourist destination. The purpose of this design is to create an interaction space for tourists, local communities, and cultural actors. This art market is expected to be a driving force for the local economy, as well as a means of performance, education, promotion, and marketing of local-based art and cultural works.
