Abstract

Academic procrastination is a behavior of delaying the completion of schoolwork that often occurs in junior high school students and can have a negative impact on the learning process and outcomes. This behavior is influenced by various psychological factors, both internal and external, including self-control and peer conformity. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control and peer conformity with academic procrastination in junior high school students. This study uses a quantitative correlational approach involving 222 students in grades VII and VIII as respondents, who were selected using simple random sampling techniques and analyzed using multiple regression through SPSS. The results of the research analysis show that self-control and peer conformity simultaneously have a significant relationship with academic procrastination (F = 13.941; p < 0.05). Partially, self-control does not show a significant relationship with academic procrastination (t = 0.834; p > 0.05), while peer conformity has a positive and significant relationship with academic procrastination (t = 5.255 p < 0.05). These findings indicate that peer influence has a more dominant role than self-control in influencing students' academic procrastination behavior.
