Abstract

This research discusses about the factor that forming and shaping identity and how identity reconstruction exposed in Scott Cawthon’s novel entitled Five Nights at Freddy’s The Fourth Closet. This research focuses on the main character named Charlie Emily that lost her identity caused by tragic event and how she rebuilds her identity. Scott Cawthon uses identity confusion as the main conflict in his book. Emily tries to define her identity, whether she is a human or an animatronic (animal-based robot). This research uses psychological approach to analyze the character of Emily for how she rebuilds the identity and what factors to form the identity. For the research design, the writer uses qualitative descriptive as the method to process the data. The result of this study shows that Emily uses several factors to rebuild her identity namely memory, experiences, social interaction, and emotion in which these factors are connected one to another. Not only uses past memory and experiences, but Emily also builds her new memory and experiences through her social interaction with her friends that help her to rebuild her identity.
