Abstract

Traffic accidents are a significant issue in Indonesia, with motorcycles accounting for the highest number of incidents. Data from the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) indicates that over 79,000 accidents occurred between January and August 2024, with motorcyclists facing a high risk of involvement. A primary cause is rider drowsiness, which impairs concentration and reaction times, thereby increasing accident risk. Consequently, developing a solution capable of accurately detecting rider drowsiness is crucial for enhancing riding safety. This research aims to design and develop a drowsiness detection system for integration into motorcycle helmets. The system also incorporates technology to transmit the rider's location to family contacts via Telegram whenever drowsiness is detected. The research methodology involves designing the detection system, followed by testing to verify the accuracy of drowsiness detection and the reliability of data transmission via Telegram.
