Abstract

Dengan wilayah kehutanan yang luas dan beragam,Indonesia menjadi penghasil berbagai jenis tanaman hutan,termasuk kayu jati yang produksinya mencapai 68,22 juta m^3 per tahunnya. Kementerian Kehutanan Republik Indonesia mengeluarkan kebijakan yang mengatur pemanfaatan kayu secara optimal, kebijakan ini mengharuskan setiap industri kayu diharapkan untuk meminimalisir produksi limbah kayu. Namun kenyataannya jumlah limbah serbuk kayu hasil penggergajian di Indonesia diperkirakan mencapai 0,78 juta m^3 per tahun. Penelitian ini fokus pada limbah serbuk kayu yang pemanfaatannya masih belum optimal, namun memiliki potensi setelah melalui proses pembakaran menjadi abu. Material tersebut mengandung silika sebesar 51,0% yang merupakan salah satu bahan utama dalam pembuatan semen yang akan mengeras ketika bereaksi dengan air dan kalsium hidroksida hasil dari hidrasi semen sehingga meningkatkan pengikatan kekuatan mortar. Penelitian ini menggunakan AKJ sebagai bahan tambah mortar dengan variasi 0%, 5%, 7,5%, 10%, 12,5% yang telah lolos ayakan No.200. Dari hasil penelitian peningkatan kadar AKJ dalam campuran semen terbukti mempercepat proses pengikatan. Kandungan abu kayu jati pada mortar juga meningkatkan berat isi mortar dibandingkan mortar normal. Namun dengan semakin banyak kadar abu membuat workability mortar semakin menurun dan resapan mortar semakin naik karena abu kayu cenderung memiliki sifat menyerap air. Hasil uji tekan menunjukkan bahwa abu kayu jati pada persentase 7,5% mengalami kuat tekan tertinggi dengan nilai 36,624 Mpa pada 28 hari dan akan menurun jika persentase melebihi 7,5%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini AKJ sebagai bahan tambah dapat mempengaruhi nilai workability, berat isi, resapan, dan kuat tekan mortar.
