Abstract
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of play-based occupational therapy in improving the quality of life in children with cancer. The hypothesis proposed is that play-based occupational therapy is effective in enhancing the quality of life in children with cancer. This research uses a quantitative experimental method with a pretest posttest one-group design. The sampling method used in this study is purposive sampling. The study was conducted on 7 children with cancer, who were included in a single experimental group. This experimental group received the play-based occupational therapy intervention over a period of two weeks, with six sessions, each lasting 55-75 minutes. The instrument used in this study was the quality of life Scale (QoLS). The data obtained were then analyzed using the paired sample t-test with the help of SPSS version 27 for Mac. The results of the data analysis indicate a significant difference between the pretest and posttest QoLS scores in children with cancer after the intervention of play-based occupational therapy. This suggests that play-based occupational therapy is effective in improving the quality of life in children with cancer.
