Abstract

Fenomena standar kecantikan sempit di Indonesia, seperti tubuh ramping dan kulit cerah, menciptakan tekanan sosial bagi perempuan untuk memenuhi ekspektasi yang tidak realistis. Media dan budaya patriarki memperkuat konstruksi ini, yang sering berujung pada body shaming dan rendahnya rasa percaya diri.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana dekonstruksi citra tubuh ideal perempuan ditampilkan dalam film Gendut Siapa Takut?!, karya sutradara Pritagita Arianegara. Penelitian ini berfokus pada adegan dan narasi yang menggambarkan karakter utama, Moza Aphrodite (diperankan oleh Marshanda), seorang perempuan bertubuh besar yang tetap percaya diri meskipun menghadapi tekanan sosial dan stereotip terkait standar kecantikan. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan teori dekonstruksi Jacques Derrida dan metode semiotika Roland Barthes untuk mengeksplorasi makna mendalam dari tanda-tanda visual dan simbol dalam film. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film ini berhasil membongkar stereotip kecantikan tradisional dengan menekankan pentingnya penerimaan diri (self-acceptance) dan keberagaman bentuk tubuh. Melalui cerita dan visual yang mendukung tema body positivity, film ini menyampaikan pesan inklusif bahwa kecantikan tidak terbatas pada standar fisik tertentu, tetapi terletak pada karakter, kepribadian, dan penghargaan terhadap diri sendiri. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan baru dalam memahami bagaimana media populer, seperti film, dapat menjadi alat untuk melawan norma kecantikan yang sempit dan mendukung gerakan sosial yang lebih inklusif
