Abstract

Pasar adalah tempat di mana proses jual-beli dilakukan. Pasar merupakan ruang komersial, dimana segala sesuatu yang berhubungan dengan perdagangan maupun bernilai niaga tinggi, yang biasanya mengorbamlan nilai budaya dan sosial (Lestari, 2016). Dalam penelitian ini, kita akan melihat bagaimana kegiatan jual beli yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat di Pasar Kapasan yang terletak di Jalan Kapasan Surabaya. Pasar Kapasan didominasi oleh penjual kain dan pakaian. Maka dari itu, pasar ini bisa dikembangkan mengikuti trend. Dengan beberapa penilaian mengenai komponen dalam pembentukan ruang diantaranya, keterbatasan ruang dan ruang, sirkulasi dan atap. Metodologi yang dilakukan adalah dengan megambil data kualitatif dan kuantitatif serta melakukan wawancara dengan pengguna. Pasar rakyat dikelola berdasarkan 8 (delapan) prinsip yaitu: Efisien, Efektif, Produktif, Akuntabel, Kepentingan umum, Berwawasan lingkungan, Tanggung jawab sosial, dan Gotong Royong.
