Abstract
Mesin diesel banyak dipergunakan di berbagai sektor seperti kendaraan , alat berat, hingga pembangkit tenaga listrik. Mesin diesel digunakan karena relatif hemat bahan bakar, memiliki harga bahan bakar terjangkau dan efisien serta kuat dalam menghasilkan tenaga. Bahan bakar diesel adalah bahan bakar minyak yang dipergunakan untuk mesin diesel. Pertamina memproduksi tiga jenis bahan bakar diesel, yaitu Pertamina Dex, Dexlite, dan Solar, yang berbeda pada cetane number dan kandungan sulfur. Cetane Number (CN) menunjukan kapasitas atau mutu bahan bakar itu sendiri, sedangkan kandungan sulfur menunjukan tingkat pencemaran udara yang dihasilkan. Karena Mutu bahan bakar ditentukan dengan cetane number, maka semakin rendah cetane number menyebabkan unjuk kerja dari mesin diesel kurang baik. Untuk meningkatkan performa mesin diesel dapat menggunakan bahan bakar dengan cetane number yang lebih tinggi maupun cara alternatif dengan penambahan zat aditif atau cetane booster pada bahan bakar diesel,apalagi sangat banyak beredar di masyarakat berbagai macam produk cetane booster yang dan tentunya tidak sedikit peminatnya. Maka dari itu diperlukan pengungkit setana (cetane booster) yang dapat menaikan angka setana pada bahan bakar diesel sehingga menghasilkan performa yang optimal. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen, objek penelitian adalah mesin diesel stasioner satu silinder. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menganalisa perbandingan penggunaan solar dengan penambahan zat aditif terhadap nilai performansi engine diesel stasioner1 silinder yang meliputi Daya mesin efektif (Ne), Pemakaian bahan bakar spesifik (sfc), Efisiensi thermis (ƞth), Tekanan efektif rata-rata (Pe), Momen Puntir (Mp). Peralatan uji performansi menggunakan generator tipe ST-2- TH. Variasi bahan bakar yang diuji adalah solar tanpa campuran, produk cetane booster PTT Diesel 5 ml dan 10 ml ke dalam 1 liter solar. Setelah itu diujikan pada variasi putaran 1200 rpm, 1700 rpm, dan 2200 rpm dengan beban 4 lampu (800 watt). Kemudian dari pengujian dan analisa yang telah dilakukan tentang pengujian performa didapatkan hasil bahwa pada variasi putaran 1700 diperoleh nilai yang terbaik dibandingkan dengan variasi putaran 1200 rpm dan 2200 rpm. Sedangkan pada variasi campuran bahan bakar diperoleh penggunaan bahan bakar campuran solar dengan cetane booster PTT Diesel 5 ml mempunyai hasil terbaik dibandingkan dengan bahan bakar solar tanpa campuran dan solar campuran 10 ml cetane booster dari segi performa motor
