Abstract

Self-adjustment is a dynamic process that involves an individual's ability to face environmental changes and new challenges, while self-concept reflects an individual's evaluation of himself. This research aims to analyze the relationship between self concept and adjustment in new students at the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya. Using a correlational quantitative method, this research involved 312 new students as participants who were selected using accidental sampling techniques. Data was collected through a Likert scale-based questionnaire, which was designed to measure self-concept and self-adjustment variables. The results of the Spearman rho data analysis show that with a significance level of p=0.001<0.05, which shows that there is a significant positive relationship between self-concept and self-adjustment. These findings provide important implications for the development of new student orientation programs that focus on strengthening self-concept to support more effective adjustment.
