Abstract

Plastic waste is one of the environmental problem which increasingly become global alert. The appliction of single-use plastic utensil in Surabaya increased rapidly to be 22% in 2021. Whereas, in 1988 the precentages of used plastic was around 5,6%. Based on expert, this problem could increase sharply year after year. It can happen due to many coffe shop, restaurant or even food and beverage sellers use plactic utensil which is considerad simpler and easier to use. Next, Komunitas Nol Sampah Surabaya is organization that aligned with Zero Waste Indonesia community, has plan to exchange brought plastic utensil by people with recycled utensil , throught sosial campaign. They think that is one of the way to stop the application of single-use untensil in daily life. In this research, Excellence theory in Public Relation by James Grunig and Hunt will be base to explain the happened problem above. For the applied research method, it will use qualitative approach, then combined with observation, data collection, interviews with expert, supported documentation and data validity using source and technical triangulation techniques. The result of the research can be explained about the application of press agentry model, two-way symmetric and public information through communication and direction of public relations as the method to inform, to provide educational things about plastic waste and to ensure people to stop the application of single-use plastic as their cutler
