Abstract
Consumptive behavior is the act of buying goods to fulfill desires excessively, causing waste and cost inefficiency. Self-control, which is the ability to control desires to become positive behavior, can prevent consumptive behavior. Self-control can prevent consumptive behavior. In addition to self control as an internal factor, conformity is an external factor that impacts consumptive behavior. Conformity is copying group behavior to follow norms and avoid alienation. This study aims to see if there is a relationship between self-control and conformity with consumptive behavior. The population in this study were 753 K-pop fans in East Java while the sample used as research respondents was 253 using incidental sampling technique. The results of data analysis using multiple linear regression techniques in this study showed an F value of 90.863 with a significance of 0.000 (p <0.05) which means that there is a significant relationship between self-control and conformity with consumptive behavior. The statistical analysis test results of the relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior resulted in -0.899 with a significance value of 0.000 (p <0.05). Meanwhile, the statistical test results of the relationship between conformity and consumptive behavior resulted in 0.380 resulting in a significance value of 0.000 (p <0.05). The conclusion that can be drawn from this study shows that the higher a person's level of self control, the lower the tendency to engage in consumptive behavior and the higher a person's level of conformity, the higher the consumptive behavior.
